More To Look At
A functioning one room schoolhouse less than a century ago, the house, which has been minimally expanded, is cozy and inviting, yet has a lofty, open layout. French doors invite a refreshing breeze in, and a practical mudroom offers a spot to shed boots and coats in wintertime. The home is equipped with wireless internet access, which reaches out to the deck. It also has local phone service but no cable TV or cell service - a perfect excuse to play hooky from the real world.
Choose to dine inside or out. A Weber gas grill on the deck is a top-notch grillmasters's station. The outside table, with a big, shady umbrella, will seat up to six people for dinner; lounge chairs are ready and waiting for cocktail hour. Inside sit under the stars via a pair of skylights at the cleverly expanding dining table.
The kitchen is outfitted for a serious cook, equipped with high-end cooktop, toaster oven (sorry, no full size oven) and an undercounter refrigerator. You'll find the cookware and tools you need to prepare most any dish. The espresso pot is here! Lots of crockery, glassware, cutlery and serving dishes make it a pleasure to bring out your meal.
The master bedroom is lofted, and reached by an easily navigable staircase. High-ceilinged enough for a 6 foot plus person to stand in, this light and art-filled, airy space includes a desk for your netbook session or journal-writing and a queen sized bed. The fan circulates air in and out of the many windows, making it cool and comfortable for sleeping, even when it's warm.
The full bath on the main floor offers a daisy-head shower, multiple mirrors and a personal heater that warms the room in minutes. The house has central radiant heat, so don't worry if the evening is cool and you don't feel like building a fire.
This is a perfect spot for a romantic getaway or a creative solo retreat - carefree, private and well groomed, yet out in nature. It's your forget-it-all fieldtrip waiting to happen.
