Picture Yourself Here
Apple A Day is a hidden gem where you can feel healthy, be quiet, relax your mind and play as long as long as you like! A 19th century, one room, red schoolhouse rental that's been recreated into a stylish country getaway, it offers the privacy of a woodlands property high on a hill and down a back road, and the sophisticated, efficient ease of an artist's retreat. Relax on the deck and take in the sights and sounds of the trickling stream and the bees buzzing around an old apple tree.
This is an idyllic getaway for a couple in need of a few days to decompress, and your furball Fido is welcome to join you. Open from April through early January, the property offers warm-weather plusses like the burbling stream and dog pond - perfect for poochies who like to splash, and you'll love to dangle your feet in the cool water. Inside the centrally heated home there is an airtight Jotul woodstove to add a warm flicker to the evenings if the weather is cool.
This sweet yet spacious little house in the woods is the ultimate escape hatch, filled with books and little bits of history. You'll hear hardly a noise but the birds singing and crickets chirping. The deck is a welcoming spot for catching some sun by day. In the evening, build a campfire and roast marshmallows around the outside fire pit.
You'll be just minutes outside of Andes - a wonderfully gentrified village with unique shopping and dining spots, a summmer farmers' market, sparkling town pool and newly surfaced tennis courts. The house is a short drive from Margaretville, Delhi or Hamden, offering easy access to local farmers' meats and vegetables, a whole foods market, and lots more shopping and recreation including a golf course and Catskill Park hiking trails. Just down the hill, the East Branch of the Delaware River boasts great fishing and kayaking.
Or just enjoy a walk down the dirt road that will remind you of the farming history of the area.
